Lincrusta kick off 140 year celebrations at Decorex with launch of new design! September was an exciting month for Lincrusta - with Decorex International in London came the official launch of our first new design. Over the next few months we’ll be launching a series of exciting new designs which focus in the main on contemporary trends such as geometric patterns and organics, very different to anything in the current collection. However, the first design to be launched is Fanfare, a timeless and elegant art deco design, inspired by our historic archives from the 1920’s in celebration of our 140 year anniversary!
To support our anniversary we also sponsored the Decorex Seminar theatre. We had a busy 4 days leading up to the show installing and decorating over 120 square metres of Lincrusta on the seminar theatre walls, a massive undertaking in a short space of time. We gathered a team of Lincrusta approved installers - Mike Wilson, John Green, Andrew Bankier, Dean Buckle along with our Technical Manager Andy Sarson. By Saturday morning, 24 hours before the show opened, we were on track and all that remained to be done was decorative effects and touching up. We used Elizabeth on the stage wall, finished in a shade of green and highlighted with a metallic gold.
The front outside wall featured two of our more contemporary designs in the current collection, Neo and Chequers. Neo catches light beautifully so works well in a single colour finish and can be hung vertically or horizontally. We used Lincrusta grey on Neo hung horizontally on the middle wall and vertically on the outside walls finished with a silver highlight. On the two walls inside either entrance to the theatre we installed chequers and finished it in a simple metallic silver to create drama.
On the side wall we did something very special, using 15+ different colour paints to create a piece of art on Kelmscott. We flew over Evgenia Kulukhina, a Lincrusta Decorator from Russia, to create the master piece. Natural rock was her inspiration – she layered many different colours and blended them to create something very unique. It was certainly a show stopper and gained much attention throughout the show!
The show opened on Sunday 17th September and we officially launched FanFare! We saw a steady influx of designers, architects and buyers from all over the world.
We opened the seminar programme with our seminar entitled ‘Making a lasting impression with design’ - a discussion hosted by Michael Gardiner our UK project sales manager. Seated on the panel we had Ella Jade, Sally Storey and Ella Doran who discussed how light and texture made a lasting impression for them in design to a crowd of around 80 visitors.
On Sunday afternoon we hosted a champagne reception on our stand in celebration of our 140 year anniversary! Over the next three days we continued to meet visitors from various professional backgrounds who were intrigued by the uniqueness and history of Lincrusta.
